Product Design
How can you predict which designs consumers will like in the future?
While it is not that difficult to measure what designs consumers like today, predicting what they will like in two to four years is much more of a challenge. What might appear unusual and over-the-top today, could turn out to be the sought after product or service on the market three years from now.
We have developed techniques that help our clients in many industries differentiate the uncommon designs and better predict whether they will be a hit in the future. This allows them to be more daring, and not just continue with safe designs that test well in today’s world.
Tool Description
The Product Design tool provides valuable insight to designers regarding consumers’ tastes (prior to beginning the design process), and feedback on preliminary styling designs throughout the design process. Design research typically requires central location testing (product clinic) because of the confidentiality of the subject matter.
Benefits
- Provide early information to leverage designers’ talents
- Differentiate products and services through styling and design
- Allow designers to see through the eyes of their customers
- Ensure designs will project the desired image, creating the desired emotional connection
Gongos Advantages
- Our research methodology is designed to not only measure what consumers like today, but to provide a more accurate prediction of which designs they will like in the future (when introduced, two to four years out).
- We have conducted over 60 design research studies over the past 10 years across a wide variety of industries. Our moderators are experienced and understand the keys to successful design research.
- Our electronic data collection and reporting provides “real-time” results to designers, which enables them to reduce the design cycle time. In some cases, designers are on-site at research events developing refined designs based on “real-time” data. The new, refined designs can then be tested to determine if the design is moving in the right direction.
